It's been over six months now that we brought our bundle of Hailey Joy home. It seems like so long ago but it also feels like it was just yesterday. I see the pictures of when she was soooo tiny and and it doesn't seem like she was ever that small.
We've had our hiccups along the road. But we have had so many blessing as well. Hailey started to be full of smiles a little after she turned two months old. She started rolling from her back to her tummy a little after the new year started (she can only roll over to her left). She has accidentally rolled from her tummy to her back one time. She started daycare in February and immeditaly got a cold, ear infection, tummy bug, influenza A, and a constant runny nose/cough. But she also finger painted for the first time at daycare and has started eating solids for lunch there daily (we started introducing at four months). She isn't a fan of solids, except I think she like peanut butter! We just introduced that this month. Also, within the last week, SHE HAS BEEN SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT. With Hailey being sick for weeks, she was sleeping horribly, up every 1.5-2 hours... so we tried the cry it out method. Medtronic paid for an app called Cleo for your child's first year, so I still have access to it. Through the app, we got an hour session with a sleep coach and a week of unlimited text support. She's been so helpful through this and Joel and I are definitely thankful to get some shut eye.
She continues to enjoy using our health insurance. She is finally over her reflux and we have graduated to Similac Total Comfort instead of Allimentum. She has 35+ hemangiomas on her body (she's spotted like a dalmatian) so we had to get a liver ultrasound to check if they were on her insides. The doctor wasn't worried so we have one more follow up for a liver ultrasound in four-six weeks (depending on the state of this COVID-19 pandemic). She also has pretty bad eczema. We saw the dermatologist this week for the hemangiomas and the eczema. The peds dermatologist was AMAZING. We have been giving Hailey bleach baths every night and putting a topical steroid cream on her body twice a day. I finally understand what it means to have smooth baby skin! She used to be so dry and scaly and after just a few days of doing that, it's like different skin! I was a little skeptical when the doctor came in with a gallon of bleach and told me I would become a believer after a few baths, but boy was she right.
Hailey couldn't get her 6 month vaccines due to a skin infection that sprouted from the eczema, so she also finally got those this week. We have been at the doctor's office 4 times in the last week, which makes me a little nervous since we have been trying to stay home as much as possible. Hailey's daycare is still open as of today, so we have been sending her so that Joel and I can get some work done at home. They are taking extra precautions, one of which is dropping her off at the door and not going into her classroom, which feels so strange. We will see what next week brings....
We've had to cancel our trip to Sioux Falls to see Toby's family as well as our trip to Kansas City for the Rock the Parkway Half. We're pretty bummed but it's the right thing to do. There will be plenty more trips to take her on in the future! We are definitely thankful to be in our new(ish) home while we hunker down.
