Liked/Loved
Green Lights by Matthew McConaughey – This was a fun read. I actually listened to the audiobook that was read by him - that made it a little more fun too. It was interesting to hear about his career getting into movies and his life, especially how much he loved to just be on the road driving. There were definitely some funny stories in there too.
The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne – I loved this book. This book follows an adopted kid through his life growing up in Ireland and hiding his true self. Along the way he falls in love with his best friend and has many other interesting experiences. I loved the ending.
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert– I really liked this book. It followed a well of girl who goes to live with her aunt that runs an off-broadway theater in New York. The book is told in the point of view of the girl that is now in her 90s and looking back on life, writing a letter to a young woman that we don't know until later. The book was just a pleasant read, I definitely did not identify with the main character and some of the choices that she made, but it still kept me hooked reading it. Just an overall pleasant read.
Nope
All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood– Nope, just nope. I couldn't get over the age difference of the child and the man that were growing their relationship. It felt like it was sexualizing a child in a way that just made me feel so uncomfortable. Not sure how so many people loved this book based on Goodreads.
