Pregnancy

39 weeks

36 week appointment

At my 36 week appointment, Dr. E measured my tummy, check my cervix and did the GBS test (negative!).  When measuring my tummy, I was only measuring about a 34 and the top of my abdomen was squishy and empty.  Baby had dropped!  Which makes sense because I had been at a point of taking 2 pepcid, 5 tums and had added omeprazole the week before - but then all of a sudden I didn't need any of it.

My cervix was measuring 3cm and 50% effaced.  She made a 'for funsies' guess that the baby would be there Saturday (4 days later).  That didn't happen :)

I got my prescription for a breast pump.  Even though Hailey didn't breast feed very long, I still had the nice pump from then so I wanted a hands free one this time as well. I went to Milk Mamas where I got my last one and they told me even with insurance, it would be $195 out of pocket! Ooft, but I reached out to a coworker friend and she got me the link to where she got hers for free.  So I now have a hands free pump!

37 week appointment

At my 37 week appointment, we did another cervix check and baby bump measure.  My cervix was dilated to a 4 (stretch to a 5) and 75% effaced.  Dr. E did a membrane sweep - a little uncomfortable but not too bad!  We were sure that would do the trick and I would be having a baby within the week.

The next morning, I started to have contractions about 4ish minutes apart.  We dropped Hailey off and headed to the hospital, sure that it was time!  The contractions weren't awful, definitely uncomfortable.. but I would say similar to what I felt with Hailey at first.  When we got there, we got checked in and hooked up to the monitor.  She did a cervix check (so painful, she must have had the shortest fingers ever!) and it was the same as the day before.  She decided to keep us there a couple hours hooked to the monitor to see if things progressed.  They didn't.... So we got sent home and told to go walk and do whatever and would probably not make it to my 39 week appointment.  I'm pretty good at proving everyone wrong I guess.  The frustrating part of this was that she said I would know when to come back.... but that clearly didn't seem right because I had just come in with the same feelings as before I had Hailey, so I guess I don't actually know.

I got home from the hospital and walked MILES AND MILES.  Nothing.....

Sunday night came though and I had contractions from about 4 pm until about 4 am.  They never got consistent or closer together, so I just got the pleasure of not sleeping well.

38 week appointment

At my 38 week week appointment, she did another cervix check and membrane sweep.  My cervix was the same as the previous week, but she mentioned it seemed to have moved more anterior.  She thinks that if I got into labor naturally, my water will break first at this point, but if I start having contractions to come in ASAP because she thinks it will go pretty quickly.  She also mentioned that she thinks the baby will be pretty small, but did comment that she probably jinxed it :)

We are scheduled for an induction right at 39 weeks - Monday May 24 at 7:30am.  I have to get a negative covid test 4 days prior and have to call the morning of the induction at 6:30 to make sure that they have a room for me.  Fingers crossed they do!

I did have contractions the night of the appointment from about 11 pm until about 2:30 am... so another not fun night of sleep... I also pulled my groin trying to get out of the bath… super fun

Hailey

Hailey definitely gets more personality and seems to be learning stuff new every day!  She transitioned full time into the toddler room and her first day went so well!  She even slept and hour and 45 minutes on the cot that first day! And almost 2 hours later on that week! They play outside so much and do more structured activities that she comes home exhausted.  She was pretty cranky that first week after we would pick her up, I think she got overwhelmed/overstimulated and just need to act out. She has also been quite a bear when waking up from her weekend naps lately.

Playground at daycare!

This month has been lots of outside time! Joel has taken her to the park and gone down the big slides! She is definitely starting to be a little dare devil.  She ran the bases and played on a softball field for the first time, definitely made my heart melt.  We had a play/walk date with one of the other mom's and her son from my Amma group.

She's gotten to spend quite a bit of quality time with Grandma and Grandpa C since they've been up here quite often checking on the progress of their house.  She even got to have a sleepover at their house one night since they have sold their current home and didn't need to keep it picked up for showing (toddlers don't quite understand keeping things clean and in order!) and ready to head out at a minute's notice.

New/fun things Hailey says/does:

  • Says 'uck' for truck and points at trucks
  • Waves her hands when she's done and says 'un'
  • Says 'herro' and puts her hand up to her ear like she's talking on the phone - if she gets one of our phones she puts it up to her ear like she's talking on it
  • Taps her booty and says 'toot toot'
  • Says baby, puppy, buh-bye, hat (as she taps her head, she also loves to take the stocking hats and put them on her head herself)
  • Says "daddy, no" - with very pronounced words and very puckered lips for the no
  • Says sock in a very interesting way... also tries to put her socks on in the mornings
  • Dances to wheels on the bus
  • Loves baby shark!
  • Runs around with a blanket over her head - she thinks it's hilarious until she goes face first into the door/wall
  • She now can drink from an open cup
  • Moved up to 2T clothing! A little big on her but she was getting too long for 18M

Life

This month consisted of basically waiting around assuming I would go into labor any minute!  I'll be posting this post post early since we will be busy having a baby in the next few days!

It's been so great that the weather has improved and it's getting light earlier/staying light later.

I've been able to catch up with some of the MOTR crew with Hailey at Caribou.  It's so great to chat with them!  Hailey is a little hesitant at first but tends to open up a little towards the end.  I also got to do a patio happy hour with a coworker's wife one night and another night had a patio happy hour with Jen - so fun! Joel, Hailey and I went with my coworker and his wife back to Invictus and it was so nice. Hailey didn’t cooperate and Joel ended up having to take her across the street to play in the soccer fields.

Joel has been playing a lot of pickleball and has even played tennis a couple of times.  His work seems to be going much better and he got such a nice and generous gift card from his coworkers for baby boy.  He's been lifting with the garage door open and even done a workout with our neighbor across the street. We've been able to go to a couple of sushi lunch dates too!

We had an interesting Saturday at the beginning of the month.  It was 85 degrees out and Hailey and I hung out at the park for 3ish hours while Joel played pickleball.  I decided to grab Chipotle for lunch as a quick meal so I wouldn't have to think about cooking.  They were WAY behind on orders, it was close to nap time, we hadn't eaten... Hailey had a melt down on the floor, I had a little melt down, finally got our food... and then on the way out, Hailey pulled my shirt down and exposed me to the people waiting for their food......... oooft.

I was supposed to also get my Peloton Tread+ on the 6th.  I was SO excited!  But I got a text 2 days before saying due to COVID, it was getting delayed and would be rescheduled.  I called, a little frantic since we assumed the baby would be there any day.. and asked for more info.  The person I talked to on the phone said he didn't have any more info.  I called the next morning hoping maybe more info was available.  The first person I talked to looked at the order and said it was still going to be delivered the next morning.  I hung up hopeful, but then decided to call back because it didn't seem right.  The next woman I spoke to called the delivery center and was told they would call to reschedule in the next 72 hours.  The woman assumed their was a COVID exposure at the delivery center.  But then a couple hours later, a notice came out that the Tread+ had been recalled due to injuries and a child's death.  I got on the Peloton chat and was told my order was cancelled and would be refunded.  I was super bummed.  I'm planning to reorder once their fixes are in place - so probably a blessing in disguise to have a safer piece of equipment eventually.  Plus - it is nice out so I can run outside when I finally get cleared to run again.

We had an amazing Mother's day, which I wrote a whole separate post for.  Work has been going well, I had my last day of work on May 19 until after maternity leave.  We had to completely clean our cubes out since they are doing some restructuring of the cubes for preparation of everyone coming back to the office September 7.

I'm looking forward to this weekend and watching post season softball! My parents also got to town this week and are staying at Tucker's house until baby gets here.  Looking forward to seeing them!  They haven't seen Hailey since October, she is definitely like a whole new person since then!

Update (May 23rd): My parents and Tucker and Cassie all tested negative for Covid (I did too!) so came up last night to hang out with Hailey and get Dakota.

My mom went to swimming lessons with Joel and Hailey while I walked around the block with my dad and Dakota. We went to Panera then the park and got lots of outside time. Tucker and Cassie came up and we all went out for dinner (Hailey enjoyed eating a lemon, it was so funny) and really wore Hailey out. She slept until 7:30 this morning!
