Group Run
For the first time this year, I finally went and ran with my running club. We had 8x800's last night. Normally I would try and keep up with Mel, pushing myself to run around a 7 minute pace. Last night, Mel was sick. I ran with Emily, Shanna and Christine the whole time. We stayed at around an 8 minute pace. Although I didn't get the normal feeling of exhaustion and accomplishment from the normal interval runs, I was reminded of how amazing running is. It didn't seem like a chore anymore. I have been having troubles motivating myself to do my workouts, although I haven't skipped any, it gets hard to run them alone. I loved every minute of my group run last night. We chatted and laughed and I was reminded how amazing the people I run with are.. every single one of them. Running truly is a blessing: from the health benefits to the outstanding people I've met along the way. I am so thankful I decided to try out a running club on June 1st. :)
"It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit."
