January Updates

Baby

I had my 20 week follow up with my normal OB (halfway there!!). It was so nice to have a normal appointment where I got to leave happy and not with more questions and concerns.

I also had my last MFM ultrasound - cervix is still long and closed and the bleed is still gone :) I graduated from having to go to them bi weekly and now just will see my OB every 4 weeks for now.

Life

We ordered a Peleton bike! I've been wanting one for a while, but couldn't really justify the expense (still trying to justify it in my head) but I'm really excited to have it downstairs next to the treadmill to fit classes in when I can.  I can also use the app for strength in the garage or running workouts when I get to that point on the treadmill.  I have complementary access to the app right now until the bike gets here (in 10 weeks, sheesh) and have been attempting some bike workouts on Joel's assault bike.  That bike is so hard! It also doesn't translate perfectly since you can't change the resistance, it's set based off of cadence.  It's nice to have an instructor telling me to push though and feeling like I'm in a class. I finally had Joel help me set up the bike trainer and put my road bike on it in the basement so I can change the resistance and my cadence and not get wacked in the belly by the handles of the assault bike.

I've been dealing with insurance more than I would like to.  Somehow, our insurance is billing all of our Fairview visits as out of network.  Fairview changed their tax code (??) they are billing for which is registering to my insurance company as out of network; therefore, my maternal fetal medicine visits, Hailey's flu shot, Hailey's wellchild visit and my OB visits have all be coming in with very very high bills.  Lots of phone calls and being transferred and told things will get reprocessed... hoping for some resolution with that.  The way it looks with the bills right now is that it's cheaper for me to take Hailey to the emergency room than it would be to have an appointment with her pediatrician...

We finally decided to be responsible and set up meetings with an attorney for estate planning/writing a will and meeting a financial planner. Adulting!

Hailey

Hailey is 17 months as of January 31.  She is running EVERYWHERE.  She is still struggling with naps at daycare and now more on the weekends.  I think we're getting close to transitioning to only one nap a day on the weekends.  She had one day at daycare where she took no naps.

Some of my favorite things she's been doing:

  • When I ask about baby brother, she runs over to the fetal doppler and lifts her shirt up.  She takes the rag and then rubs all the ultrasound goo off my belly when I'm done
  • I ask her if she wants a pouch and she runs over to her high chair and grabs her bib and attempts to put it on
  • It is so cute how she holds my hand while we walk places, she now walks with me into daycare holding my hand
  • Maybe not favorite, but she has found her love for Cocomelon.  She runs and grabs the remotes and throws a little fit unless we turn it on
  • She loves to spin around in circles and march really fast in place while dancing
  • Joel likes to check in her mouth between bites and asks her to say ahhh, she opens her mouth and in a quiet voice says "ahhhhhh"
  • She now knows where her nose, ears, mouth, hands and toes are
  • Just recently she started pointing out the puppy and the baby in our book about Gravity for Infants
She is starting to get even more picky with food.  The challenge is that one night she will love something and the next hate it.  She will throw it all on the floor and yell at the top of her lungs.  She also will slide her hand back and forth across her high chair to make a mess.  To try and help with that, we now have pulled the highchair up to the table without the tray and let her sit like a big girl at the table.

She still isn't saying much for words.  She definitely understands a lot and can sign please, more and say uh-oh. I know she is going to start talking eventually and never stop, but anxiously waiting for a few more words!

  1. Paul was a horrible napper in the infant room. He barely slept. Once he moved to the toddler room where they sleep on cots and it shocked me but he napped soooo well there!! Hope for the same for Hailey!
