Digital planning!

Eep! I am addicted to my digital planner. Who would have thought?! I have felt so much more in control of things using it.

I started following a bunch of digital planner instagram accounts - something about it is just so relaxing to me.

I have used the paper version of the passion planner for years. Some things that I didn’t love about paper planners: flexibility when plans change, having to carry it around everywhere, only so much flexibility with what the planner has for pages, etc.

I have tried a few different ones but am now using solely the Passion Planner with inserts clipped from other places. I am using the GoodNotes App on my iPad with my Apple Pencil. I love the UPPERCASE Nimble Sleeve grip for it and I go back and forth between pen tips - some days I like the thin feeling of a pen like tip, others I like the smooth feeling of the native Apple Pencil tip.

The nice thing is my ability to pull up my planner on any apple device. I can make my grocery list on my iPad and then pull it up on my phone at the store. (Yes, I am well aware there are apps for all of these things, but I love the feeling of writing stuff down and having my own flexibility to how things look. I do also use the Google Keep app, Cozi app for shared calendar with Joel, etc… but I am one of those people that just love to write stuff down) I also love that the app lets me write with the pencil and convert it to text box so my handwriting doesn’t over power everything. It’s my creative outlet since I am not creative in real life :) (peep the cartoon I traced of a family photo!)

I also am able to write down and reflect on my running. I used to use the Believe Training Journal - but again, now it’s with me on my phone or my iPad so I can type or write down my workouts and reflections whenever.

I have also been writing down things that happened during the days on a weekly spread, just a nice reminder for what we did during the day/week or any milestones of the kids :)

Work is also kind enough to give me a work iPad with keyboard so I have one at work with my planner and the One Note app for taking notes and stuff during meetings. I have loved the feeling I’ve having my stuff together :) the To Do app by Microsoft has been super sweet too for planning my tasks for the day and making sure I follow up on my flagged emails!

So there you have it :) my new addiction!

  1. I'm glad you found something that works well for you! I am 100% a paper planner person as I really like the tactile aspect of a physical planner. For years, I used a bullet journal as I really cut down on planning/goals/etc when we started a family. But this year I got a paper planner and am so happy to have more structure. I use a W222 planner which I found out about through a blog I follow. She also has a planner podcast - Belt Laid Plans. You might like it!

The one thing we do digitally is a grocery shopping list. I use a shared note on the iPhone so Phil and I can both add to the list and then he does 100% of our grocery shopping. When he's shopping on Sat mornings, it's nice to be able to pull up the note and see how close he is to being done (we have check mark boxes in front of the grocery items, so I can see in real-time what has been checked off!).
