Dislikes:
- Some days in the last week he has not liked to sleep or eat
Sleeping:
Nap time is pretty consistent with being awake for about an hour to hour and a half and then needing a nap. He will sleep about 45 minutes to 2 hours in the Snoo if you keep putting his pacifier back in. It will be interesting how he does at daycare in a little over a week.
Nighttime is tough and not consistent. We had about 4 days of Miles waking up every 45ish minutes needing the pacifier and then eating twice at night. The last few days we have started a dream feed again at 10:30 pm. That has really helped. He will then give us solid sleep of no popping the paci back in until 3:30am. He then will sleep until between 5:30 and 6:00, usually with one or so more pacifier pops.
We tried the Merlin sleep suit one night, that was a nightmare. He was refusing naps a couple of days ago so we tried to put him down in the pack n play with just a sleep sack and he flipped over to his tummy and slept a solid 45 minutes.
Miles is starting to get a little long and close to growing out of the Snoo. I met with a sleep consultant through our work app (free!!) and she said it sounded like he was going through the 4 month sleep regression - which is unfortunate since he's not the best sleeper to begin with. She thought we should follow up at 5 months and in the meantime, just help him get back to sleep however we can. I'm dreading the move out of the Snoo.. but our pediatrician mentioned in our 4 month appointment today that he might be showing the signs that he's ready since he is SUCH A WIGGLER. She thought it would be a good idea to just try him in the pack n play.
Eating:
Miles is eating up to 6 ounces at a time every few hours - usually about 3-4 ounces. We have been formula hopping. His spitting up has decreased the last week, so he might just be growing out of it. Hopefully we can stick with the Kirkland brand because I like to save money! We tried the spit up formula and the gentle (enfamil knock off) formula. Now we're back to Kirkland.
Miles still is not a fan of cold bottles, unfortunately.
Growth:
Wearing 3-6 month and in size 2 diapers, but probably not for long.
At his 4 month appointment this morning he was 15 pounds 3.4 oz (44th Percentile), 2' 2.77" long (97th percentile) and has a big head 43 cm (87th percentile).
She brought up the flat spot on the back of his head. She says we should check it out again at 6 months now that he's rolling more and decide if we want to get him a helmet...
Firsts:
This month had a few firsts -
- Month without any hospital visits!!
- Rolling tummy to back, now he's obsessed with it
- Rolling back to tummy, this is newer and he's only done it a few times
- Liking to be on his tummy - I mentioned to my mom that he couldn't lift his head up as high as Hailey could at this age when he was on his tummy.. and he must have heard me, because the next day he was doing it like a champ!
- Giggles!! He giggles when daddy lifts his arms above his head or wipes the neck cheese out of his neck rolls
- School pictures - daycare let us bring him in to get pictures even though he doesn't start yet. He DID NOT cooperate, he did not want to sit, he just wanted to push off and be straight
- Bath with Hailey
- First time in the bumbo chair, the sit me up, and the bouncer
- Gopher's football game
For comparison - Hailey at four months (+10 days) was 13 pounds 2.1 ounces (21st percentile), 2'1.5" long (82nd percentile) and a head circumference of 39.4 cm (12th percentile) -- Miles definitely has a giant head compared to her
I didn't post anything on Insta for her 4 months.. but I do remember she was starting to get good at tummy time and holding her head up.. and started to like her hands around that time too. She was sleeping better than Miles was at this age.. but not much better, and not for long because she would start daycare not long after this and start waking up ALL THE TIME, mostly from being sick
