December Fun

We’ve had a good month so far!

I had to cut back quite a bit with running, my shin was starting to bug me a little too much.  I am doing 2 marathons next year, so no need to push it right now and risk injury.  I have been doing the peloton bike some to get some cardio in for my mental health.  I got in a couple runs on our treadmill this week to test it out and it felt pretty good! I had my Weight Watchers weigh in this morning (week 5!) and was down again - 7 pounds total from when I started in November.  Ugh, I remember back in the day when I would start tracking again and I would drop that in like a week and a half… getting older/hormones. Ugh.  I do like this new program though! I appreciate the options that I have for my zero point food.  I appreciate that I can get points back by activity and eating non-starchy veggies.  It’s pushing me to make better choices and not game the system.  I truly do feel better, even if I’m not losing excessive amounts of weight.  (Future self.. no excuses! You do feel better! And… you feel MISERABLE when you binge on three bowls of cereal. Don’t do that.).  I’ve really been enjoying reading again.  I’ve gotten through quite a few books this month.  I think I’m going to start a draft post to keep track of the endings of books so I don’t forget!  I got to do happy hour with coworkers and their wives this week and it was so fun.  I love that my group gets along. I also met up for coffee this weekend with Joel’s best friend’s wife.  She brought their 6 week old and we got to chat.

Miles did end up getting pretty sick a little over a week ago, high fevers and snotty nose, but finally seems to be on the mend (so will probably get sick this week at daycare again…).  He’s SO CLOSE to crawling. He gets up on all fours and rocks and launches himself forward.  We’ve gotten back to some pretty good stretches at night, about 10 hours at a time, but he REALLY wants food and can’t get back to bed without eating.  I think he’s going through a growth spurt today - he had probably 20 ounces before 11am.  He seems to be getting a personality too.  He blows strawberries and laughs like crazy when Joel plays the peek game with him on the changing table. I think we’ll get him into swimming lessons next summer!

Hailey is just learning so much.  So many new things to say and do.  She will not nap for us on the weekends, ugh.  I tried to get her to take a nap with me yesterday in the bed, but that just ended up with her laughing and poking me in the face and counting really loud.  We had an adventure yesterday going grocery shopping.  We stopped at the library, then Costco, then Lowes and finally Walmart.  We witnessed a little scam going on and I mentioned it, but then security walked me to my car to make sure that the people weren’t waiting for me… I almost wish I wouldn’t have said something but I felt like the cashiers were going to get in trouble with their registers being short.  Hailey had swimming lessons this morning.  She has her last one of this session next week (but I think we will be in Sioux Falls with Toby’s family for Christmas, so she might miss it).  After lessons, we stopped at the Caribou with one of the girls from Hailey’s daycare that is also in her swimming class.  They had kids hot chocolates and donuts, it was just so stinking cute!

We went to the library

Hailey wanted Joel to pick up “La”

Last second decision to get a picture with Santa. Hailey warmed up to him after about 10 minutes of chatting (thankfully there was no one around), and Miles could care less - except he was COVERED in drool. Definitely not dressed cute, but oh well!
