Miles Wayne at 7 months

Likes:

• Attention, from anyone. He’s not picky
• Playing peek - he will get giggling so hard when Joel does it while changing his diaper 
• Army crawling, especially trying to get Tesla, he sees the kitty and his eyes light up, he gets a smile on his face and he is off to tackle her 
• Bouncing, he finally figured out how to actually bounce in his bouncer and now he will do it even if you’re just holding him in the standing position 
• All the toys. He pulls out all the toy bins on our toy shelf and makes his way through them all 

He started on the blanket…. Decided he needed to explore all over the living room instead 

Dislikes:

• Sitting still - he has to be on the move or playing with something 
• Sitting up, he physically can sit by himself but refuses because he would rather be on all fours or on his belly, playing 
• Getting his diaper changed - more that he just doesn’t want to be laying there, it usually turns into a pretty aggressive wrestling match… even giving him a toy to distract him doesn’t always do it 
• Being bored, he will get fussy if there isn’t something for him to be exploring 
• Still not much he doesn’t like, he is the chillest thing - so crazy how opposite he is of Hailey 

Sleeping: 

Naps at daycare are so so right now with him getting sick. At daycare he takes 2 naps during the day, very inconsistent the last month with all of the daycare germs. 

We have still been putting him to bed between 6 and 7 and it’s a gamble on when we go back in. Like clockwork, he SCREAMS around 8 like something is horribly wrong. We let him go back to bed by himself at that wake up usually. With him being sick, we have had to get up about twice with him. It doesn’t matter if we dream feed or whatever, he still NEEDS a bottle sometime between midnight and 4…. We don’t know what we’re going to get these days. We’re tired. He had even woke his sister up a couple times with his screaming. 

I don’t understand how people can have such good sleepers for kids…. I feel like we’ve done all the right things, researched all the sleep programs and tips/tricks, talked to so many sleep coaches, and it’s still a crapshoot if the kids will sleep halfway decent.

It doesn’t matter what time we put him to bed, he will be up right around 5:30 for the day. He wants to be out in the living room, crawling around and playing in the toy shelf. Thankfully he’s incredibly chill with the toys and keeps himself busy so we can at least slowly find our energy for the day. 

Eating: 

Miles is eating 8 ounces at a time every 3-4 hours. We still only offer him 4 ounces at night to hopefully be able to drop that feed.. We are still on the Target brand formula and he seems to be spitting up considerably less with age. He is SUPER distracted with the world right now so it’s hard to get him to actually drink his bottle in one sitting…. We have started to lay him on the floor and let him drink it himself since he can hold the bottle pretty well right now. 

Miles is starting to be semi okay with cold bottles.

(None of this has really changed from last month, but we are giving him 6 ounces if he makes it til the morning with sleeping)

He gets solids at lunch at daycare and we give him some now and then too for dinner.  He doesn't seem to be a very big fan of any of it, but will eat it. He does have fun with the teething crackers and I think he would probably really like the baby led weaning but I get so nervous with the whole choking thing that I just can’t do it…

Growth: 

Wearing 6-9 month and in size 3 diapers.  We are still using sposie pads in his diaper at night.

Firsts:

This month had a few firsts -

• Started crawling a week or so after he turned 6 months! He army crawls but will get on all fours and kind of launch himself into the army crawl
• Road trip - we went to Sioux Falls to visit his cousins
• Christmas - which was not our favorite Christmas, daycare took down the whole Cassens family and extended family with an awful stomach virus 
• First time sleeping through the night! But only once. Just once 😭
