Miles Wayne at 8 Months

Likes:

  • Bouncing, peekaboo, toys
  • Getting into anything and everything, he's crawling everywhere and sitting on his knees - he tries to pull up on stuff but can't quite figure it out yet
  • Making his sister angry - he tries to play with her toys or touch her stuff.. she screams and he find it funny
  • He loves his sister
  • FOOD. He loves to eat solids

Dislikes:

  • Sitting still, he doesn't like to sit up at all because he would rather be moving
  • Getting his diaper changes, he now finds it funny to roll all over the place

Sleeping:

Naps at daycare and at home are going well.  He is down to 2 naps a day, about 1-1.5 hours each.

We have still been putting him to bed between 6 and 7. We have decided to start to try some sleep training.  He was getting up randomly in the middle of the night and would eat, but he seems like he is getting more than enough calories during the day.  The last few days, I have just been trying to get him to go without food til at least 5.  He then takes an 8 ounce bottle and has been going back to sleep for a couple of hours. Hopefully he will be able to make it til 6 one of these days...

Eating:

Miles is eating 8 ounces at a time every 3-4 hours. We had still been feeding him one time a night with a 4 ounce bottle, but have been trying to break that...

We are still on the Target brand formula and he seems to be spitting up considerably less with age. He is still SUPER distracted with the world right now so it’s hard to get him to actually drink his bottle in one sitting…. We have started to lay him on the floor and let him drink it himself since he can hold the bottle pretty well right now.

Miles has started to really enjoy table foods.  He picks food up and feeds himself.  He would eat forever if we let him.  For breakfast last weekend, he ate an egg, some fruit and 2 pieces of toast.  For snack last week, he ate two nutrigrain bars!  For lunch this weekend, he has eaten a whole peanut butter sandwich and then still went on to eat more food.

Growth:

Wearing 6-9 month and in size 3 diapers.  We are still using sposie pads in his diaper at night.

Firsts:

This month had a few firsts -

  • Table foods
  • Play date with my coworkers kid that is a couple months younger than him - they didn't really play together but towards the end they were interested in the same toy
