Miles Wayne at Five Months

Likes:

• Laying on the ground wiggling
• Baths
• Ceiling fans
• Making faces and eye contact with people, he loves to smile at everyone
• Rolling
• Attention
• Sucking on his hands (and sometimes a toy or something if you give it to him, he's got a really good grip)
• He loves his sister!!
• Watching TV...... he will bend himself backwards to try to see it

These are all the same as last month but they still apply!

Dislikes:

• Sitting still
• Sleeping through the night.... he needs food still
• Honestly, he's such a chill baby - so smiley and happy (daycare calls him a flirt), he will cry if he's hungry or tired.. and every once in a while if something scares him

Sleeping: 

Naps at daycare are not super consistent, but he does nap pretty well.  We bought him a crib and he sleeps in a sleep sack in his own room now.  We are starting to have him cry it out a little bit, but he definitely wants food still at night.  We has given us a couple 8 hour stretches (which would be great if we went to bed when he did...).  I think we will start letting him cry it out a little more as he gets older.  

We've been using the Huckleberry app for tracking and tells us when to go to bed/put down for nap based on wake windows and it has been pretty good for not having to think.  He's usually in bed between 6 and 7.

Eating: 

Miles is eating 6 ounces at a time every 3 hours, almost like clock work - except at night, we only offer 4 ounces. We are now consistently on the Target brand formula and he seems to be spitting up less with age.

Miles still is not a fan of cold bottles, unfortunately.

Growth: 

Wearing 3-6 month and in size 3 diapers.  We have started to use sposie pads in his diaper at night.

He is 16 pounds 11 ounces (56th percentile) and 27.5 inches long (98th percentile)

Firsts:

This month had a few firsts -

• First day at daycare
• Consistently rolling back to front, and back
• Trip to the pumpkin patch
• First nights in the crib in his own room

For comparison - Hailey at five months.  She was just over 14 pounds at 5 months (not exact, extrapolated from her growth chart) so Miles is definitely bigger than her.

From Insta: Our peanut is FIVE months old today.  Just in the last week she has figured out how to roll back to front - her new favorite game is to roll and then get upset that she is on her tummy, get help to get back, and immediately roll again.. and repeat. She has decided she likes food, crushing rice cereal and avocado.  he took her first plane ride and went for her first swim.  She has figured out how to hold onto her own bottle if we put handles on it and learned how yummy and drooly her hands are.  She is a chatty little thing and enjoys hanging out with daddy on his paternity leave!
