COVID Exposure Galore

OOOOOOFTA is all I have to say

I am currently home with both kids, thankfully today is a work holiday so I’m not trying to work with both of the again.

Starting at the beginning.  Thursday of last week (November 4), I got a call from the daycare that there was a positive case in her classroom. The kid that tested positive was last there the previous Friday (October 29).  We had to go pick Hailey and Miles up.  Miles could return the next day if Hailey got a negative test.  Hailey’s class had to be shut down 7 days, so she wouldn’t have been able to go back until Monday. I took a test immediately  and then went and got the kids and got Hailey tested - negative.

I dropped Miles off Friday morning and hung out with Hailey.  We went to the pet store, Caribou and then Costco.  I was going to go in for a meeting in the afternoon, so I dropped Hailey off at Dan and Sheri’s right after lunch.  As I was driving away from their house, I got a call from daycare.  There was a positive case in Miles’ room.  His exposure was on Tuesday (November 2).  I had to go pick him up and he needed a negative test 5 days after exposure (Sunday) and then Hailey could go back, but his class would be closed until Wednesday.  Ugh.  I went and picked him up and didn’t go into work.

He tested negative on Sunday morning so we were going to be sending Hailey back to daycare the next day.  Sunday afternoon, we got another call from daycare with another positive case in Hailey’s class.  This time, last exposure was the Thursday we had to pick her up (November 4)… so she had to get a negative test Tuesday and then Miles could go back Wednesday, but her class is closed all this week.  I decided to keep Miles home the whole week with Hailey instead of sending him, we get a credit towards our account since he’s out the whole week.

But gosh, I worked a bit with both of them home - not very efficiently.  Joel’s parents watched them for most of the day Tuesday and all day Wednesday so I could go into an animal study.  We are so thankful for them and that they are so close and willing to help out! This week would have been a mess without them.

I had looked forward to today and tomorrow off with the kids at daycare so I could have a little time to myself… but that changed, and now I’m enjoying not working with both kids.  I did get my booster on Tuesday after everyone tested negative, so that makes me feel a little better. Can’t wait til the littles can get their shots!
