October Reads
Read:
The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny (★★★★☆) - The newest book in her series and I wish someone would have told me there might be some trigger subjects in it (child abuse, child death, postpartum depression). The book takes place post COVID life where a mathematician has modeled how to prevent a strain on the economy from happening again. The controversial topic ends up in a murdered woman.

Beach Read by Emily Henry (★★★☆☆) - A love story that was a nice change of pace from what I had been reading. A down on her luck romance novelist ends up in her late dad's house next door to her nemesis. They make a bet to write a book in the other person's genre. Pretty predictable, but sort of cute.
Worldslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language by Amanda Montell (★★★★☆) - Really liked this book and how generations can shape languages. I was fascinated how language can evolve and the point about how many more words there are to insult or belittle a woman than a man.
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (★★★★★) - I loved this book. The book was about a group of elderly people that live in a community that meet each week to go through old files and solve mysteries. When murders get close to home, the group decides they are going to solve it. I loved the leader of the group and appreciated the humor of the old crew manipulating the cops to give them information.
My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman (★☆☆☆☆) - The ending was good and sad and Backman is so good at telling a story. I just couldn't handle all the make believe stories..
Still Life by Louise Penny (★★★★★) - I started the Inspector Gamache series over again and had a whole new appreciation since I know and love the characters again. This is the first book in the series and takes place in Three Pines where a woman is found in the woods, struck by an arrow.
