Q2 2021 Financial Review
Spending
Overall for the second quarter, we reduced our spending by 9%. It helped that we didn't buy a peloton treadmill or bike in this quarter :)
The categories that had the biggest increases from the previous quarter were food, vehicle and entertainment. The categories with the largest decreases in spending from the previous quarter were health/wellness, shopping and long term savings.
Home (25.2%) - Again our highest category due to our mortgage and up 2% from the previous month. We also got our air ducts cleaned and had the house cleaners come again. Our March cleaning check didn't get cashed until April, so this also snuck into this quarter.
Food (16%) - We ate out A LOT this quarter due to having a new baby. This is 18% higher for food costs than the previous quarter. We had majority of our meals in the hospital as take out. I think it will be helpful to watch this category and try to meal plan a little more now that we're starting to get a handle on this parenting 2 kids thing.
Daycare (16%)
Long Term Savings (15.6%) - This is reduced 34% from the previous quarter because we started to get into the swing of contributions. The first quarter, I had put a little bit extra when we got our tax refund into our Roth IRAs so the amount that we contributed was a little higher.
Vehicle (9.1%) - This category jumped up this month due to our yearly car insurance being paid in full to get the discount
Miles Wayne (7.7%) - This quarter had a lot of expenses for Miles, mainly things. We purchased a double stroller, an Owlet, newborn photos, and a bunch of other little piddly things that we needed for the nursery - including diapers and a diaper genie.
Monthly Bills (3.6%)
Entertainment (3.5%) - This category increase due to us going out and doing stuff more often now that things are opening back up.
Health, Wellness & Fitness (0.8%)
Shopping (0.8%)
Yearly/Semi Yearly Bills/Subscriptions (0.7%)
Pets (0.6%)
Hailey Joy (0.3%)
Medical (0.1%)
